Closeup of the castle I built with modular parts.
Early version with the landscape blockout and a couple of Quixel rocks and mountain assets.
This was the whole scene. It is actually playable with a third person character and quite a feeling walking through your on build.
Some snapshot shortly taken before I finished the project.
I think this is a funny example of how strange a scene can look if you just work from one specific camera angle. Notice the janky light blocker behind the Quixel cliffs.
This was not only a good practise in Unreals lighting capabilities but I also learned a lot about blending textures, using decals and foliage and playing around with the post process volume.
It was fun working with Quixels modular building parts. A little bit like Lego for (not so) grown-ups.
